Students and faculty members in the Department of Chemical Engineering participate in the Ministry of Youth and Sports exhibition for talented people

Under the patronage of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, and under the supervision and guidance of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghaban, President of the University of Technology, students of the Department of Chemical Engineering who were innovators and creators, under the supervision of a number of faculty in the Department of Chemical Engineering, participated in the Ministry of Sports and Youth exhibition for the gifted and inventive for the period 13-14/12/2023, and in the presence of the representative of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Khawla Salah Khashan, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies. The students participating in the exhibition presented their scientific ideas and innovations that contribute to developing production and industrial processes in the fields of chemical engineering. It is worth noting that the projects presented by the department talented students won the admiration of official delegations and evaluation committees for their importance in the field of water treatment, energy production and alternative fuels, as well as chemical and petroleum processes.

A scientific team of professors from the Department of Chemical Engineering participated in the Fifth International Conference on Building, Construction and Environmental Engineering, which was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Technology in cooperation with Komar University in Sulaymaniyah Governorate and the University of Jordan, in the presence of the representative of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghaban, Assistant to the President for Affairs Administrative Prof. Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman and the presence of an elite group of professors from the University of Technology and other universities.

Where Prof. Dr. Thamer Jassim Mohammed, Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdel-Jabbar Abdel-Razzaq (scientific assistant), Prof. Mai Ali Muslim (branch head of the Chemical Engineering and Oil Pollution Branch), and Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Rahman Abdel-Ghani participated. Where Prof. Dr. Thamer Jassim Muhammad chaired one of the research sessions in the environmental engineering axis, as well as the representative of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdel-Jabbar Abdel-Razzaq, as well as two sessions by Assist. Prof. Dr. Mai Ali Muslim. It is worth noting that the conference discussed many scientific topics in the field of engineering and civil engineering and their applications, the most important of which were environmental treatments and pollution reduction.

The Department of Chemical Engineering organizes a symposium on investing waste in energy production.

 In the presence of the Assistant President of the University of Technology for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman and a number of heads of scientific departments. The Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology organized a scientific symposium entitled Investing municipal waste in energy production and environmental preservation on Tuesday, 12/12/2023.

The symposium included scientific lectures by Engineer Montaser Hiran Muhammad from the Baghdad Municipality and Professor Louay Sadiq Al-Mukhtar from the Ministry of Environment, during which a detailed presentation was given on the management and control of waste and ways to convert it into useful energy to preserve the environment. It also touched on the classification of waste in terms of origin, physical state, and chemical nature of the waste, and the projects of the Baghdad Municipality in investing waste in the Rusafa and Al-Karkh area and converting it into energy to preserve the environment. In addition to addressing the dangers of waste and its impact on human health and society. At the conclusion of the symposium, the lecturers were awarded certificates of appreciation by the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Khaled Ajami Sukkar, in appreciation of their distinguished efforts in delivering lectures.

Fourth year students of the Chemical Process Engineering Branch conduct field practice in the department industrial laboratories

The Department of Chemical Engineering organizes a workshop on job qualification

  As part of the cultural and scientific activity for the first semester, the Graduate Follow-up Unit in the Department of Chemical Engineering held a workshop entitled Career Qualification for final year students and graduates on Sunday, 12/3/2023.

The workshop included a lecture by Mrs. Nour Sabah Sadiq Al-Marayati, Director of the Customer Service Department at Changan Company, during which she presented a set of technical and administrative skills that an engineer must possess in order to achieve success and distinction in the labor market. On the other hand, the lecture explained the importance of graduates obtaining the scientific skills that develop their academic capabilities and enable them to obtain the appropriate job and acquire the elements of success and career stability. At the conclusion of the workshop, the department appreciated the lecturer’s efforts with a certificate of thanks and appreciation in appreciation of her valuable efforts in the scientific workshop.

As part of the cultural and scientific activity for the first semester, the Graduate Follow-up Unit in the Department of Chemical Engineering held a workshop on chemical additives in the concrete industry for final year students and graduates of the department on Wednesday, 11/29/2023. The workshop included a detailed presentation by the engineer Hammam Yaqzan Abdel Moneim about the types of concrete and chemical additives that are used to increase the quality of concrete to suit different uses. The lecturer explained that the mechanical properties of tensile and compressive strength depend greatly on the type of chemical additives used in the composition of concrete, and as a result affect its operational life and its capabilities to different conditions of humidity, salts, and harsh climatic factors.

As part of the Chemical Engineering Department preparations to receive new first-year students, implement the Bologna Pathway for the current academic year, and prepare them for integration into the university system. A training workshop was held for first-year students on Sunday, November 26, 2023, on the application of the Bologna Pathway by the academic committee supervising the application of this path and with the participation of the new student registration committee to clarify the new academic system (Bologna System) and introduce them to the features of this system. What is the student role in this system, how to use it, and how to register in it? The committee also discussed how scientific lessons are presented, the method of selecting them, and a detailed explanation of this system so that our dear students can benefit from and adapt to the new university system.

The Department of Chemical Engineering welcomes first-year evening study students

Within the Chemical Engineering Department program dedicated to welcoming first-year students. A welcome session was held for students accepted into the evening study, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajmi Sukkar, Head of the Chemical Engineering Department and Prof. Dr. Zaidoon Mohsin Shakor, Head of the Chemical Engineering and Oil Refining Branch, and Prof. Dr. Asawer Abdulrasool Kwae, Head of the Chemical Process Engineering Branch, on Tuesday, 21/11/2023. During the meeting, the students were briefed on the department study program, which adopted the Bologna Pathway, and its importance was explained from the scientific and academic aspects. The applied and industrial aspects of the work of a chemical engineer in all production sectors were also highlighted. The pioneering role that characterizes the work of a chemical engineer in serving society and building the national economy was also discussed.

The Department of Chemical Engineering organizes a workshop on the basics of leadership and communication skills

As part of the cultural and scientific activities for the first semester, the Graduate Follow-up, Qualification and Employment Unit in the Department of Chemical Engineering organized a workshop entitled Basics of Leadership and Communication Skills for final stage students and graduates of the department on Sunday, 26/11/2023. The lecture was given by Mrs. Zainab Asaad Daoud, in which she provided a detailed presentation on the nature of leadership, the basics of successful leadership, the basic theories and practices of leadership, and the necessity of developing leadership skills among young people by expanding their awareness and knowledge and developing their leadership skills and directions in leading themselves and leading others. At the end of the lecture, the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajmi Sukkar, awarded a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer in recognition of her efforts in delivering the lecture.

The Department of Chemical Engineering holds a scientific lecture on: rejecting extremism and hatred and promoting unity and patriotism

 Within the cultural season of the Department of Chemical Engineering, delivered a speech researcher, Dr. Zaman Karim Odeh from the Al-Mustansiriya Studies Center, affiliated with Al-Mustansiriya University, gave a scientific lecture entitled: (Hate speech and extremism and its repercussions on Iraqi societal peace) on Thursday, 11/23/2023, where the researcher touched on the importance of rejecting hatred and extremism as they are alien matters to Iraqi society and show As a result of external and economic repercussions.

On the other hand, the importance of promoting a culture of national unity, love and peace in order to build a strong and cohesive society was emphasized. The session was chaired by Assist. Prof. Bushra Abdullah Majit and Assist. Lecturer Khitam Salem Shaker as rapporteur. At the end of the lecture, the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Khaled Ajami Sukkar presented a certificate of appreciation to the researcher in appreciation of her scientific efforts. It is worth noting that the Department of Chemical Engineering has developed a cultural and scientific program for the department’s students, during which it hosts academic and scientific figures to shed light on all cultural and academic developments.
