Written by lumaWithin the scientific and cultural activities of the first semester of the Department of Chemical Engineering for the academic year 2017-2018, the Assistant lecturer (Firdous Mahmoud) was given a lecture on Thursday 2-11-2017 entitled: "demulsification process of crude oil emulsions via electro-coagulation – an experimental approach" inside Al Khwarizmi Hall in the presence of the Head of Chemical Engineering Department; Asst. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai, the assistants to the Head of Department and the heads of the scientific branches as well as a number of academic staff from the Department.
Meeting of the General Authority of the Chemical Engineering Department
Written by lumaOn the blessing of God, the first meeting of the General Authority for the first semester of 2017/2018 was held at Dar Al-Salaam Hall on Tuesday 31/10/2017. During the meeting, the Head of Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai welcomed the presence of faculty members and then discussed the following issues:
- Commitment to official working hours.
- Discussion of the distribution of marks for the lessons during each course according to the timing of the university calendar.
- Establishment of each scientific branch within the Department at least a seminar or conference.
- Activating the student activities.
- Selection of a representative for the faculty members.
Director of the Research Unit of Membrane Technology with his research team publishing research in a sober international journal
Written by lumaThe director of Membrane Technology Research Unit Prof. Dr. Qusay Fadhel Abdel Hamid and his co-workers were published a paper in the journal of Chemical Engineering and Processing: Process Intensification with impact factor of 2.234 for year 2017. The title of the research was "Performance of vacuum poly (propylene) membrane distillation (VMD) for saline water desalination". In this study, the research team designed a vacuum distillation system for membrane using a polypropylene membrane to desalinate high saline water. The operating conditions were studied and optimum conditions were determined for temperature, flow rate, salt water

Visit to Al-Faris General Company / Ministry of Industry and Minerals by a team of academic staff from the Department of Chemical Engineering
Written by lumaA visit was made to Al-Faris General Company / Ministry of Industry and Minerals by a team of academic staff from the Department of Chemical Engineering composed of Prof. Dr. Thamer Jassim Mohammed and Asst. Prof. Dr. Salah Salman Ibrahim on Thursday, 14/9/2017. A meeting was held with representatives of the company under the chairmanship of the assistant director of the company Eng. Ghalib Azzawi Hammadi and in the presence of representatives of the Industrial R & D Authority. During the meeting, the technical problems and obstacles of some of the companys' projects were reviewed and the companys' units were also checked. It was agreed to submit a report related with the problems and documented them in an official letter to the University of Technology in order to find the solutions by the working group with the expansion of the paragraphs of the memorandum of understanding to be signed between Al-Faris General company and the Department of Chemical Engineering to include the other departments in the university such as the production engineering and metallurgy department and materials engineering department and others

Written by lumaWithin the scientific and cultural activities of the Department of Chemical Engineering for the first semester of the academic year 2017 – 2018 and under the auspices of the president of the University of Technology prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, the Department of Chemical Engineering held a religious lecture for the sixth year entitled: Lessons and assessment of sacrifices of Imam Hussain (May Allah be pleased with him). The lecture included two parts. The first part was a lecture given by Al-Sheikh Mohammed Hassan Jiyad and the second was a poem entitled "Poems about the virtues of Ahl Al-bet (May Allah be pleased with them)", which was given by Mr. Abdul Razzaq Abdul Hussein. At the end of the lecture, certificates were awarded.
The Department of Chemical Engineering held the symposium and the celebration entitled: PhD study in the Department of Chemical Engineering thirty years of superiority.

Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology held the symposium and the celebration entitled: "PhD study in the Department of Chemical Engineering thirty years of superiority" on Thursday 26/10/2017 at Dar Al-Salaam Hall and in the presence of the head of Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai and the Assistant General Manager of Midland Refineries Company; Dr. Ayed Jaber Omran with the presence of other professors and academic staff from Department and University. The head of Chemical Engineering Department; Asst. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai gave a speech on the occasion, in which he presented a set of programs for postgraduate studies, which include higher diploma, master and doctorate. The PhD programs aim to provide the Iraq needs of human cadres to these specialized technological degrees in scientific research and development along with leading research teams working in various fields and also deepening the links between the industry and the university by means of addressing the industrial problems through the development of chemical engineering sciences so as to ensure that the pace of global progress in this field is maintained. The symposium included the opening of scientific lectures and the awarding of certificates to the lecturers.
The Department of Chemical Engineering holds a workshop in cooperation with the USA Embassy

Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, the Department of Chemical Engineering in cooperation with the USA Embassy held inside the University of Technology a workshop entitled "Workshop on IYLEP" on 24/10/2017 at Dar Al- Salaam Hall in the presence of the head of Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai and the Director of the Rehabilitation and Employment Division at the University of Technology Dr. Ammar Al-Hassani with attending a number of professors and students of the second and third stage from our department. This program includes the exchange of young Iraqi leaders.
Symposium on invention and innovation and their role in building the national economy

The symposium included the opening of scientific lectures and the awarding of certificates to lecturers and members of the preparatory committee
Scientific visit for the Department of Chemical Engineering to AL-Mustaqbal College

Based on the memorandum of understanding between the University of Technology / Department of Chemical Engineering and AL-Mustaqbal University College, a scientific visit was made to AL-Mustaqbal College In Babylon on Saturday, 2/12/2017 headed by the head of Chemical Engineering Department Assist Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Al-Rubeai and in attendance of the Assistant Head of Department for Administrative Affairs Dr. Wallaa Abdel Al-Hady Al-Najjar and head of the chemical engineering and oil refining branch; Asst. Prof. Dr. Talib Mohammed Nayef and Prof. Dr. Qusay Fadel Abdul-Hamid. The objectives of the visit were to activate the terms of understanding signed between the two parties, which including the conduct of joint research between the two parties in addition to the implementation of the Conference of Engineering Education and in cooperation with the Iraqi Engineers Union and the Committee of Deans of Engineering Colleges in Iraq. |

In the presence of the head of chemical engineering department; Prof. Dr. Thamer Jassim Mohammed and the faculty members, Chemical Engineering Department hosted a workshop on Thursday 01/12/2016 in order to register of faculty members on the websites of Google scholar and ORCID. The lecture was given by the Asst. Lect. Safa Amen. The purpose of the registration of faculty members on the above mentioned signatories is to publish their research and their scientific achievements consistent with the recommendations by the office of the assistant of the University's president for scientific affairs; M.M.A / 810 dated 27/11/2016.
