Referring to the directives of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the directives received from the Presidency of the University, the Chemical Engineering Department has begun to follow up the laboratories in the department and their safety and security procedures, especially the laboratories currently operating, including the Postgraduate Studies Laboratory. The firefighting equipments were inspected and checked in the department and the existing deficiencies were completed. The Chemicals Laboratory of the Chemical Engineering Department was visited by the head of the department, Prof. Dr. Jamal Manea Al-Rubaie, Chairman of the CBRN Committee at the University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Riad Sadiq, as well as the head of the department's CBRN committee, Lect. Dr. Manal afham. The head of the department confirmed the completion of procedures, namely increasing the percentage of ventilation inside the store, the regulation of fire extinguishing cylinders, and many other things. The head of the department also met with the maintenance committee and emphasized that they follow up on the electrical energy sources and cooling devices inside the department to maintain the safety of everyone and other procedures.

On Sunday 11/4/2021, the head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Jamal Manea Al-Rubaie, inspected the attendance examinations for undergraduate students in the Chemical Engineering Department. During the visit, they were briefed on the mechanisms used, the type of examination questions and the extent of their difficulty, the plans in place during the exam period, and the preventive procedures in terms of social distancing and wearing a mask to limit the spread of the epidemic. The Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Jamal Manea Al-Rubaie, the efforts made by the examination committee and all cadres in serving the students and providing all their needs, wishing everyone permanent excellence and success in the service of our university.

Within the scientific and cultural season of the first semester of the Department of Chemical Engineering, a discussion seminar was held online for postgraduate students (PhD) / research stage on Tuesday, 16/2/2021 by the student Alya Muhammad Awad entitled (Development of the properties of flow and heat transfer for lubricating oils Produced in local oil refineries by adding nanomaterials to them). The student showed that building a unit for the production of additives to nanomaterials from hydrocarbon wastes left by refineries or factories and added to the stock of essential oils produced by local refineries in Iraq and the production of lubricants with specifications comparable to international oils in terms of performance and quality. As well as doing an examination and evaluation of the thermal specifications of the improved oils, and the seminar was attended by the head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Jamal Manea Ali Al-Rubaie, and a group of faculty members.

The Department of Chemical Engineering celebrated the retirees staff by honoring them during a ceremony attended by the head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Jamal Manea Ali Al-Rubaie, a number of faculty members and the department's employees. The head of the department said in a speech delivered at the ceremony that "the department decided to extend thanks and gratitude to the colleagues who spent their youth serving the department and the university." He also commended and blessed the first students for the 2020/2021 academic year. All retirees and students were honored with certificates of appreciation and gifts in exchange for their services.

 

On Tuesday, January 26, 2021, the Chemical Engineering Department will be honored to host the University Council, where the Council held its fourth joint session in the Dar Al-Salam Hall, in the presence of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban and all members of the Council, where the meeting's agenda was discussed. At the end of the meeting, the university president thanked the attendees, wishing them a successful academic year.
