              In preparation for the implementation of the course system for the next academic year and in light of the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Technology, a workshop was held in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Dar Al-Salaam Hall on Wednesday 13/3/2019. The workshop was attended by the Head of the Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar, scientific and administrative deputies of the head of the department and the heads of scientific branches in the department as well as a group of faculty members in the department. The workshop was chaired by Assist. Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdul-Jabbar Abdul Razzaq / Scientific deputy and the coordinator Assist. Lect. Khalid Mansour Sadiq / Director of the Registration Division, in which the mechanisms of applying the course system and the percentage of completion of the department to the requirements for implementing the system were clarified.

Fire fighting training course

 

              Within the activities of the Department of Chemical Engineering for the second semester of the academic year 2018/2019, a training course was held by Engineer Osama Hussain Qamar and Eng. Hussein Ghaleb entitled (Causes of Fire and how to treat it and the means used) on Ibn Rushd Hall on Wednesday 13/3/2019. The training course was attended by the Head of the Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar, scientific and administrative deputies of the head of the department and the heads of scientific branches in the department as well as a group of faculty members in the department. In his lecture, Engineer Osama Hussain Qamar presented some important things about the use of modern warning system in the design and implementation of modern buildings. Whilst, Eng. Hussein Ghalib explained the causes and types of fires, as well as the kinds of extinguishers used in dealing with fire conditions.

 

 

      Two faculty members, Assist. Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdul - Jabbar and Lect. Dr. Walaa Abdelhadi, from the Chemical Engineering Department published a research entitled "Modification of Zeolite by Magnetic Nanoparticles for Organic Dye Removal" In the Arab Journal of Science and Engineering with impact factor of 1.092.

 

              Under the auspices of the President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, the University of Technology in cooperation with the Directorate of Civil Defense and the University Committee for the Control of Chemical and Biological Hazardous Substances (CBRN: Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) held a celebration and field demonstration entitled "Safety Week at the University of Technology" on the gardens of the Department of Chemical Engineering on Monday, 11/3/2019 in the presence of the President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir and Governor of Baghdad Eng. Falah Al-Jazairi as well as the director of civil defense Colonel Kazem Salman, in addition to the University President Deputy for Administrative Affairs Prof. Dr. Sami Abu Al-Nun Ajeel, University President Deputy for Scientific and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein and the head of the Chemical Engineering Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar with a number of department heads, faculty members, department and university staff and a selection of civil defense officers. The President of the University explained in his speech the need to use the most important methods and modern techniques to control chemical and biological materials and to preserve the safety of faculty members and students when dealing with these hazardous materials. The ceremony included a field review by a group of faculty members and students in cooperation with the Directorate of Civil Defense. At the end of the celebration, the certificates were awarded by the Governor of Baghdad and the President of the University of Technology to the members of the Preparatory Committee and everyone who participated in the celebration.

 

 

        The Department of Chemical Engineering receives a certificate from the International Institute of Chemical Engineering to develop a student chapter (AIChE) at the University of Technology for the first time at the level of Iraqi universities. It is worth noting that this scientific chapter is intended to enhance scientific communication with the universities and institutes of the world and to develop the scientific capabilities of scientific students
