under the sponsorship of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Al-Ghabban, President of the University of Technology, the Department of Chemical Engineering / University of Technology held the first student conference entitled (The First Student Conference for the Green Technology Team) electronically on Wednesday 7/7/2021 and in the presence of the Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering Prof. Dr. Jamal Manea Al-Rubaie and a number of the faculty members from Department and university. The head of the Chemical Engineering Department delivered a speech in which he stressed that the conference's goal is to shed light on the role of modern green technology in reducing environmental pollution caused by oil sector institutions, and its impact on maintaining environmental safety. After that, the head of the Chemical Engineering and Oil Pollution Branch, Assist. Prof. Dr. Zainab Yousef, gave a speech in which she mentioned her blessing to the University of Technology for establishing a green technology team in the Chemical Engineering Department / Chemical Engineering and Oil Pollution Branch to be a specialized team concerned with the environment and sustainable environment and the adoption of green technology in chemical engineering operations. On the other hand, the university focused on strengthening the leading role of sustainable development through great attention to environmental aspects and renewable energies because of their importance in the future of generations and the preservation of the environment, as well as their importance in the university’s rankings in international institutions and classifications, where the university worked to make the University of Technology a green technological university. The conference included two sessions in which the twenty research papers of the fourth stage students were presented

Two faculty members, Prof. Dr. Thamer Jassem Muhammad and Assist. Lect. Iman Hashem in the Department of Chemical Engineering / University of Technology, obtained a patent (No. 6659) from the Ministry of Planning, the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control for the use of radish, eggplant and chickpea seeds as coagulants to treat polluted water in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil / Oil Research and Development Center on 5/11/2021. The patent included the use of radish, eggplant and chickpea seeds, which are available in our country in large quantities, and which are used in an innovative way to treat polluted water.
