Under the auspices of the President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir and under the motto of science and work to build our new Iraq, the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology held the seventh annual scientific students conference for graduation projects and summer training and communication with alumni for the academic year 2018/2019 on Monday, 29/4/2019 at the Dar Al-Salaam Hall. The conference was attended by the head of the Department of Chemical Engineering Asst. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar, heads of Departments at the University of Technology, deputies of the head of Chemical Engineering department and heads of branches in addition to the faculty members, employees and postgraduate students from the Department. The head of the department delivered a speech in which he said that the Department of Chemical Engineering is an engineering specialization dealing with natural sciences such as chemistry, physics, mathematics and economics in the design, development and operation of factories and processes aimed in converting raw or intermediate materials to the required product. Chemical engineering is therefore one of the most widely used industrial disciplines among all engineering sciences and as a link between science and industry. The conference included a presentation and discussion of graduation projects for the students of the three branches and the presentation of the best report on the summer training of the branches and the scientific debate between the students of the competing branches. The Conference Cup was awarded to the Chemical Engineering and Environmental Pollution Branch, winner of the scientific debate.
