Under the auspices of the President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, Under the motto of postgraduate research is a foundation in building the national economy, the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology held the third scientific conference for postgraduate students for the academic year 2018/2019 on Sunday 5/5/2019 at Dar Al-Salaam Hall. The conference was attended by the administrative deputy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Attia Al-Sarraj, the President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, the University President deputy for Administrative Affairs Prof. Dr. Sami Abu Alnoun Ajeel and the head of chemical engineering department Asst. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar together with the heads of departments at the University of Technology, the deputies of the head of chemical engineering department, the heads of branches, faculty members, employees and postgraduate students of the department. The President of the University delivered a speech on this occasion expressing his thanks to the Department of Chemical Engineering. The administrative deputy of the Ministry of Higher Education also delivered a speech on this occasion, in which he explained the importance of scientific research and the role of postgraduate students in achieving qualitative changes in the knowledge side. The head of the department delivered a speech in which he said that the postgraduate studies in the department of chemical engineering were presented in 1979 with the study of the masters and high diploma in the specialization of industrial operations and other specialties were added, namely, oil and petrochemical engineering with the aim of continuous communication between researchers from supervisors and postgraduate students in addition to exchange experience. The aim of the conference is to clarify researchers and postgraduate students about the type of problems and research trends underway so as not to intersect between research projects and the direction of research plan in a way that serves to solve the industrial and oil problems. The conference included the paragraphs of the opening session. The session, which was chaired by Prof. Dr. Sami Abu Al-Nun Ajeel and Prof. Dr. Basma Abbas, included two lectures. The first lecture was given by Dr. Mohamed Nasser on behalf of the Director of Oil Research and Development Center, Mr. Hilal Ali Ismail, and the second lecture by Dr. Muthanna Dahan from the University of Missouri for Science and Technology / USA.
