Scientific visit
Written by عضو ارتباطIn accordance with the directives of the head of Chemical Engineering Department in the activation of scientific visits to the Department students during the current academic year 2017/2018 and under the Administrative Order No. 2436 dated 5/12/2017 and the approval of the Midland Refineries Company / Daura refinery. The summer training committee organized a scientific visit to the postgraduate students (oil and gas refining engineering and chemical processes engineering) and students of the department of production engineering and metallurgy / PhD / (metallurgy engineering) on Wednesday 20/12/2017 inside the headquarters of Midland Refineries company/ Daura refinery. Under the supervision of the faculty members who are: Sami Ibrahim and Dr. Khaled Hamed and Dr. Antsar Yahya and Lect. Bashir Ahmad and Mr. Assaad Hassan the representative of the University Media Unit.
One of the most important objectives of the scientific visit was to link theoretical study with practical application and to clarify some practical applications of chemical engineering in the field of petroleum industries.
On the sidelines of the visit, the deputy of General Director, Dr. Ayed Jaber Omran Al-Khafaji, and the Director of Training and Manpower Development at the Company, Mr. Saad Ahmed Abdul Khaleq, and the Engineering Staff have welcomed the attendees of the lecturers and postgraduate students who are present in the lecture hall. During the meeting, a documentary film was presented explaining the history of the refinery's construction since the 1950s. The delegation, together with a staff of the company, went to the system of control of the czechoslovakia unit as well as the definition of the outputs of the scientific Department, where a group of engineers specialized in the refinery and the academic staffs from our department have explained the problems of corrosion and answer all questions of visiting students. Also in one of the modern oil refining units and the water treatment unit in the refinery, all measuring devices and control equipment were introduced and how they worked through a field tour. At the end of the visit, all the academic staff and students expressed their pleasure and joy in the positive results of the scientific activity carried out by the summer training committee. They also thanked the head of the department for giving them an opportunity to learn about the problems of corrosion in the systems and methods of their treatments directly.
Symposium on "Nanotechnology Applications in Environmental Protection
Written by عضو ارتباطUnder the auspices of the President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology held a symposium entitled "Nanotechnology Applications in the field of Environmental Protection" on 12/12/2017 at Dar Al-Salaam Hall inside our Department, which attended by the university president deputy for administrative affairs Prof. Dr. Sami Abu Al-Nun Ajeel on behalf of the President of the University and the Head of Chemical Engineering Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai with a group of professors and employees from the Department and the University. The Head of the Chemical Engineering Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai was delivered a speech on this occasion, in which he expressed the importance of environmental treatment and disposal using modern technologies to preserve the environment. The symposium also included the opening of scientific lectures and awarding of certificates to the lecturers and members of the supervisory and preparatory committees.

Workshop on Strengthening Safety and Security in Chemical and Biological Laboratories

The head of Chemical Engineering Department Assist Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Al-Rubeai and a number of professors and employees from our department and the university were attended the workshop. A scientific team from the Department of Chemical Engineering visits the Midland Refineries Company (MRC)
Written by عضو ارتباطA scientific team from the Department of Chemical Engineering visited on Wednesday 1/11/2017 the Midland Refineries Company, which headed by the Head of Chemical Engineering Department; Asst. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai and scientific adjutant; Asst. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sookar with both the head of chemical engineering and oil refining branch; Asst. Prof. Dr. Talib Mohammed Nayef and the head of chemical process engineering branch; Asst. Prof. Dr. Riad Sadik along with a group of professors from the department. Mr. Zaid Kazim, General Manager of the MRC and Mr. Saeed Abu Jaber Omran, Assistant Director of the MRC, welcomed the attendees. During the meeting, they discussed the activation of the memorandum of understanding between the Department of Chemical Engineering / University of Technology and the Midland Refineries Company / Ministry of Oil, which is represented by scientific cooperation between the two parties.

Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai, the assistants to the Head of Department and the heads of the scientific branches as well as a number of academic staff from the Department.

Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai, the assistants to the Head of Department and the heads of the scientific branches as well as a number of academic staff from the Department.
Meeting of the General Authority of the Chemical Engineering Department

During the meeting, the Head of Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai welcomed the presence of faculty members and then discussed the following issues:
- Commitment to official working hours.
- Discussion of the distribution of marks for the lessons during each course according to the timing of the university calendar.
- Establishment of each scientific branch within the Department at least a seminar or conference.
- Activating the student activities.
- Selection of a representative for the faculty members.
Director of the Research Unit of Membrane Technology with his research team publishing research in a sober international journal
Written by عضو ارتباطThe director of Membrane Technology Research Unit Prof. Dr. Qusay Fadhel Abdel Hamid and his co-workers were published a paper in the journal of Chemical Engineering and Processing: Process Intensification with impact factor of 2.234 for year 2017. The title of the research was "Performance of vacuum poly (propylene) membrane distillation (VMD) for saline water desalination". In this study, the research team designed a vacuum distillation system for membrane using a polypropylene membrane to desalinate high saline water. The operating conditions were studied and optimum conditions were determined for temperature, flow rate, salt water

Visit to Al-Faris General Company / Ministry of Industry and Minerals by a team of academic staff from the Department of Chemical Engineering
Written by عضو ارتباطA visit was made to Al-Faris General Company / Ministry of Industry and Minerals by a team of academic staff from the Department of Chemical Engineering composed of Prof. Dr. Thamer Jassim Mohammed and Asst. Prof. Dr. Salah Salman Ibrahim on Thursday, 14/9/2017. A meeting was held with representatives of the company under the chairmanship of the assistant director of the company Eng. Ghalib Azzawi Hammadi and in the presence of representatives of the Industrial R & D Authority. During the meeting, the technical problems and obstacles of some of the companys' projects were reviewed and the companys' units were also checked. It was agreed to submit a report related with the problems and documented them in an official letter to the University of Technology in order to find the solutions by the working group with the expansion of the paragraphs of the memorandum of understanding to be signed between Al-Faris General company and the Department of Chemical Engineering to include the other departments in the university such as the production engineering and metallurgy department and materials engineering department and others

Written by عضو ارتباطWithin the scientific and cultural activities of the Department of Chemical Engineering for the first semester of the academic year 2017 – 2018 and under the auspices of the president of the University of Technology prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, the Department of Chemical Engineering held a religious lecture for the sixth year entitled: Lessons and assessment of sacrifices of Imam Hussain (May Allah be pleased with him). The lecture included two parts. The first part was a lecture given by Al-Sheikh Mohammed Hassan Jiyad and the second was a poem entitled "Poems about the virtues of Ahl Al-bet (May Allah be pleased with them)", which was given by Mr. Abdul Razzaq Abdul Hussein. At the end of the lecture, certificates were awarded.
The Department of Chemical Engineering held the symposium and the celebration entitled: PhD study in the Department of Chemical Engineering thirty years of superiority.

Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai and the Assistant General Manager of Midland Refineries Company; Dr. Ayed Jaber Omran with the presence of other professors and academic staff from Department and University. The head of Chemical Engineering Department; Asst. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai gave a speech on the occasion, in which he presented a set of programs for postgraduate studies, which include higher diploma, master and doctorate. The PhD programs aim to provide the Iraq needs of human cadres to these specialized technological degrees in scientific research and development along with leading research teams working in various fields and also deepening the links between the industry and the university by means of addressing the industrial problems through the development of chemical engineering sciences so as to ensure that the pace of global progress in this field is maintained. The symposium included the opening of scientific lectures and the awarding of certificates to the lecturers.
The Department of Chemical Engineering holds a workshop in cooperation with the USA Embassy

Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, the Department of Chemical Engineering in cooperation with the USA Embassy held inside the University of Technology a workshop entitled "Workshop on IYLEP" on 24/10/2017 at Dar Al- Salaam Hall in the presence of the head of Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai and the Director of the Rehabilitation and Employment Division at the University of Technology Dr. Ammar Al-Hassani with attending a number of professors and students of the second and third stage from our department. This program includes the exchange of young Iraqi leaders.
