Assist. Prof. Dr. Adel Sherif Hammadi, a member of the faculty of the Department of Chemical Engineering / University of Technology and in cooperation with researchers in the Ministry of Industry and Minerals / Center for Chemical and Petrochemical Research, registered a patent related to the use of chemical processing and activation to prepare and study the characteristics of Iraqi nano-Bentonite. Which was registered in the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, the nano-Bentonite invention was prepared with high quality and efficiency in use through employing the raw bentonites available in our country in large quantities which are widely used in the industrial, medical, agricultural and other fields. |
Department of Chemical Engineering holds a special training workshop for postgraduate students entitled (writing the thesis / dissertation and presentation methods in English language)
Written by عضو ارتباطThe Department of Chemical Engineering held a special training workshop for postgraduate students entitled "Writing the thesis/dissertation and presentation methods in English language" at the Dar Al-Salaam Hall on Monday, 27/11/2017. The head of the Chemical Engineering Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai was attended the workshop with a number of professors and postgraduate students from our department and other university departments. Where the first lecture was delivered by Lect. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hadi. The lecture included introducing the audience to the importance of the presentation, the method of preparing the slides, the contents of each slide, the method of presentation of the lecture, the most important positions of the researcher during the process of diction and the ways of communicating and delivery of information. The second lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Qusay Fadhel, where he addressed the students' definition of how to write the thesis/dissertation and the sequence of writing and away from the textual quotation to override the high rates of plagiarism and the mistakes made by student during writing his/her thesis/dissertation.

Symposium on "Nanotechnology Applications in Environmental Protection
Written by عضو ارتباطUnder the auspices of the President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology held a symposium entitled "Nanotechnology Applications in the field of Environmental Protection" on 12/12/2017 at Dar Al-Salaam Hall inside our Department, which attended by the university president deputy for administrative affairs Prof. Dr. Sami Abu Al-Nun Ajeel on behalf of the President of the University and the Head of Chemical Engineering Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai with a group of professors and employees from the Department and the University. The Head of the Chemical Engineering Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai was delivered a speech on this occasion, in which he expressed the importance of environmental treatment and disposal using modern technologies to preserve the environment. The symposium also included the opening of scientific lectures and awarding of certificates to the lecturers and members of the supervisory and preparatory committees.

Written by عضو ارتباطWithin the scientific and cultural activities of the first semester for the Department of Chemical Engineering for the academic year 2017-2018, the MSc. student Hadeel Attieh Abdul Kadhim was given a lecture related to her research under the title: Enhancing Electro-coagulation in Removal Oil from Water via Magnetic Nanoparticle inside Al-Khwarizmi hall in the presence of the head of Chemical Engineering Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Ali Al-Rubeai. The seminar was also attended by the deputies of the head of the department, the heads of the scientific branches and a number of professors, employees and students from the department on Thursday, 7-12-2017.
A scientific Team visits the State Company for Mining Industry / Ministry of Industry and Minerals
Written by عضو ارتباطA scientific team from the Department of Chemical Engineering was visited the State Company for Mining Industry / Ministry of Industry and Minerals on Sunday 21/1/2018 headed by Prof. Dr. Thamir Jassim Mohammed. The members of the scientific team were Prof. Dr. Mona Khudair Abbas, Asst. Prof. Dr. Lama Adnan Hamid, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Fadel Abdel, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Hager Zine El Abidine. Both Asst. Prof. Dr Fadel Abbas Hashem and Asst. Prof. Dr. Salah Salman Ibrahim were apologized for attending the meeting because of exam Obligations. The meeting was held with representatives of the company under the chairmanship of the assistant director of the company Eng. Younis Sheal Fahad, in the presence of representatives of the industrial research and development department. During the meeting, the greetings of the president of the University of Technology prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir were conveyed and valued the importance of enhancing the fruitful cooperation between the university and companies of the Ministry of Industry to solve the technical problems facing our national industry During the meeting, the problems and technical constraints of some of the company's projects were presented to the possibility of finding solutions by the professors of the university of technology according to their specialization, and also the five-year research plan of the company and the possibility for the contribution of the departments in the university of technology in the adoption of a part from these research as research projects for MSc and PhD students. It was agreed to submit a report on the problems and the research plan and documented them in an official letter to the University of Technology in order to find solutions for them by the team and university professors in engineering departments, with the expansion of the paragraphs of the memorandum of understanding to be signed between the State Company for Mining Industry and the Department of Production Engineering and Metallurgy to include other departments within the university of technology such as chemical engineering and materials engineering departments or others.

Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdul Jabbar Abdul Razzaq in the Department of Chemical Engineering was invited to discuss the Doctoral thesis of a PhD student (Ruwaida Samir Said) in the Department of Chemistry / College of Education for Pure Sciences / Ibn Al-Haytham University of Baghdad. The student was awarded a Ph.D. degree on her thesis entitled "Preparation and Diagnosis of Modified Polyvinyl Alcohol and Study of its Medical Applications" on Thursday 15/2/2018.

Dr. Saad Rahim Sultan on Sunday, 18-2-2018 inside Al-Khwarizmi Hall in Chemical Engineering Department-University of Technology. The discussion Committee was comprised of; Prof. Dr. Kazem Fintil Abdul Hussein, Asst. Prof. Dr. Inaam Akram Sabri and Asst. Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdul Jabbar Abdul Razzaq.
Professor from the Department of Chemical Engineering publishes research in an international journal

Dr. Arshad Ammar from the Building and Construction Engineering Department, had published a research titled: "A new Sponge-GAC-Sponge membrane module for submerged membrane bioreactor use in hospital wastewater treatment" in Biochemical Engineering Journal / Elsevier Publisher with a 2.8-impact factor on the Thomson Reuter scale, which is related to the treatment of waste generated from hospitals using a global innovative method.

The head of Chemical Engineering Department Assist Prof. Dr. Jamal Manee Al-Rubeai and a number of professors and employees from our department and the university were attended the lecture inside Dar Al-Salaam Hall in the Department of Chemical Engineering on 6/3/2018. The lecture was given by Dr. Bushra Abdul Hussein Al-Tai, a specialist in psychology. The seminar was also witnessed many reactions from the attendees and there were many questions from the attendees, which answered by the lecturer. At the end of the seminar, the head of the chemical engineering department offered a certificate of appreciation to the lecture Dr. Bushra Abdul - Hussein.

"Abbas Jawad Sultan," a member of the faculty in our department who had a scholarship to study outside the country was discussed his doctoral thesis, which entitled "Hydrodynamics study of the bubble columns with intense vertical heat-exchanging internals using gamma-ray computed tomography and radioactive particle tracking techniques" on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in the United States at the University of Missouri for Science and Technology.
Workshop on "Problem Solving and Decision Making

The lectures were given by the unit members in cooperation with the students of the fourth stage. The workshop was attended by a group of professors and staff members from our department.
