          In accordance with the directives of the Presidency of the University of Technology in activating the scientific and applied visits to the students, the Summer Training Unit organized a scientific visit to the students of the third class / second meal of the branch of Chemical Processing engineering on Monday, 18/3/2019 to the headquarters of the Midland Refineries Company at the headquarters in the Duora area under the supervision of the faculty members, namely: Assist. Prof. Dr. Khaled Hamed, Assist. Prof. Dr. Bashir Yousif, Lect. Dr. Leith Salem, Assist. Lect. Mariem Yousif and Assist. Lect. Iman Hashim. One of the most important objectives of the scientific visit is to link theoretical study with practical application and to clarify some practical applications of chemical engineering in the field of petroleum industries.

 

             The student chapter (AIChE) for the department of chemical engineering held the periodic meeting in Dar Al-Salaam Hall on Monday, 18/3/2019 for the purpose of deliberating on matters related to the activities of the chapter and the ideas of the students and the proposals necessary for the development the chapter work. Where part of the meeting was attended by the head of the Department of Chemical Engineering; Assist. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar, administrative deputy; Lect. Dr. Wallaa Al-Najjar, Department's Coordinator and graduate students. The head of the department expressed his directives to support the students' class, develop their effectiveness and listen to their views and requests. The meeting was moderated by Assist. Prof. Dr. Jamal Mana Ali, supervisor of the chapter, along with Lect. Dr. Abbas Jawad Sultan and Lect. Dr. Haidar Abdul Ali from the Chemical Engineering Department with the participation of members from AIChE. It is worth mentioning that the student chapter in the Department of Chemical Engineering is the first in Baghdad, which is established in cooperation with the American Chemical Engineering Institute.

           Starting from the principle of cooperation and deepening the academic work between the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Center for Continuing Education / University of Technology, a course entitled "Hysis Program" was organized by members of the faculty in the Department of Chemical Engineering, namely: Assist. Prof. Dr. Zainab Yousif, Lect. Bashar Jawad and Lect. Iyad Dari for the period 17-20 / 3/2019 on the Center for Continuing Education, where a group of employees of government institutions and departments was present.

 

            Participation of faculty members from the Department of Chemical Engineering / University of Technology at an international scientific symposium of the College of Pharmacy, Al Kitab University on the occasion of the National Day of Water on Saturday, March 23, 2019. They are each of Prof. Dr. Qusay Fadel Abdel Hamid, Assist. Prof. Dr. Salah Salman and Assist. Prof. Dr. Khaled Turki Rashed. The symposium dealt with the role of modern science and technology in raising awareness about the water challenges for sustainable development and saline water desalination using membrane technology, as well as treatment of waste water using industrial and biologic membranes. Where they received the shield of the university and also certificates of appreciation for their active participation in the symposium by means of the President of Al Kitab University, Prof. Dr. Iyad Ghani Ismail.

             Based on the directives of the Presidency of Chemical Engineering in activating the scientific visits of the students of the Department during the current academic year 2018/2019, the Summer Training Unit in the Department of Chemical Engineering organized a scientific visit to the students of the third class of the branch of chemical engineering and oil refining engineering on Tuesday 19/3/2019 to the headquarters of the General Company for Heavy Engineering Equipment located in the Duora area under the supervision of the faculty members, namely: Assist. Prof. Dr. Khaled Hamed, Lect. Dr. Wallaa Al-Najjar, Lect. Dr. Abbas Jawad, Lect. Dr. Haidar Abd Ali and Chief chemist Wasun Sami. At the end of the visit, all faculty members and students expressed their joy at the positive results of the scientific activity carried out by the Summer Training Unit. They also extended their thanks and appreciation to the Head of the Department for providing them with an opportunity to learn about the latest technological developments in the area of jurisdiction directly.
