The Department of Chemical Engineering hosts the University Council

On Tuesday, January 26, 2021, the Chemical Engineering Department will be honored to host the University Council, where the Council held its fourth joint session in the Dar Al-Salam Hall, in the presence of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban and all members of the Council, where the meeting's agenda was discussed. At the end of the meeting, the university president thanked the attendees, wishing them a successful academic year.

Head of the Chemical Engineering Department Jamal Manea Ali Al-Rubaie congratulates the evening study students for their admission to the department and wished them a successful academic year, on Sunday 17/1/2021, where the department head stated in his speech that the department is very happy with the presence of new students and stressed the need for their commitment to the procedures Preventive and hygienic and was also received by the students gentlemen heads of branches and professors of the first stage and the Student Reception Committee to help and guide them about what they need, students at the university. Where it was explained to them that permanence is the blended education system, which was approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, meaning that theoretical lectures are taught electronically and practical lectures in the department in the presence. A tour was made for the students in the department's halls and laboratories, as well as a visit to the training centre and laboratories to introduce them to them, after which the e-mail was distributed to the students for the purpose of preparing for e-learning and communicating with the professors from the first day of their enrolment.

The Department of Chemical Engineering set up a remote electronic lecture for a foreign lecturer entitled “Low cost high efficiency solar powered desalination” On Sunday, 10/1/2021, it was given by Dr. Ibrahim Saeed from Rise University in the United States of America, and where the lecture was attended by the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Jamal Mane Ali Al-Rubaie and with the wide participation of the teachers of Iraqi governmental and private universities, and the lecture included Building inexpensive and highly efficient water desalination systems using solar energy that can be applied in Arab countries to produce water with good specifications.

 The Department of Chemical Engineering at the University / Technology held electronic seminars (seminars) for graduate / doctoral and master’s students on Wednesday 8/26/2020 to discuss their research and in the presence of the supervising professors for their research. Each student has been allocated 20 minutes for the presentation, 10 minutes for discussion) and they are each student Dr. Omar Sabah, title of his research: An arithmetic and experimental study of heat transfer and dynamics of the two-particle mixture in the three-phase fluidized bed reactor, and PhD student Mortada Sabah, title of his research: A study of converting waste into fuel: an applied example of converting plastic waste into fuel, and a master’s student, Sarah Mazhar, her research title: Preparation and Diagnosis Eco-friendly composite membranes for use in the separation processes. The seminar was held on the FCC platform.

This workshop was held on April 18, 2020, through a zoom program.
 

A student from the chemical engineering department participated in an online workshop on stopping spread out of COVID-19.

Within the university activities, Hussein Hafez Tabak, student of the third year of the Chemical Engineering and Oil Refining Branch, was participated in an online course that given by the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences MBRU in the United Arab Emirates on how to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to control it. At the end of the course, the student received a certificate and was awarded the title (MBRU Ambassador for Communication). The chairman of the chemical engineering department, Dr. Jamal Manee Alrubay, congratulated the student for this effort and awareness, and at the same time, encouraged all the students to participate in such scientific and awareness courses.

The Department of Chemical Engineering held an online workshop entitled Preparing nano-auxiliary agents and using them to interact with hydrogen removal from cyclohexanol and convert it into cyclohexanone by Dr. Allia Khudhair on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.

During her workshop, she clarified that the copper-based catalysts were shown of industrial importance in the interactions of different hydrocarbons, especially in the synthesis of the creating the cyclohexane from the removal of hydrogen from the cyclohexane. The rapid deactivation of copper-based catalysts in operating conditions is an important problem in the industrial process.

This lecture was presented by Prof. Dr. Talib Mahdi Al-Sudani, a faculty member at College of Arts, Imam Sadiq University, on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at Ibn Al-Rushd Hall. This lecture was attended by the chairman of the Chemical Engineering Department, Dr. Jamal Manee Alrubay, the heads of branches, and a group of faculty members from different university departments. Prof. Dr. Talib Mahdi Al-Sudani sheds light on the topic of management, its historical development, concepts, issues, and operations, as it works to employ staff and material settings, and is the decisive factor in achieving development in all fields.
