The Department of Chemical Engineering held a scientific symposium in collaboration with civil engineering entitled (The water crisis in the province of Basra: reality and solutions)

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir; the president of the University of Technology, the Department of Chemical Engineering held a scientific symposium entitled(The water crisis in the province of Basra: reality and solutions) in collaboration with the Department of Civil Engineering / University of Technology, on Dar Al-Salaam Hall on Monday, 15/10/2018. The symposium was attended the president of the University of Technology; Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir and the University president deputy for scientific affairs and postgraduate Studies; Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hussein and University president deputy for administrative affairs; Prof. Dr. Sami Abu Al-Nun Ajeel and the head of Chemical Engineering Department; Assist Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar with a group of faculty members and employees from the department and the university and guests from all ministries. The university president said in his speech that the University of Technology with all its scientific and engineering cadres is working to solve the water problem in the province of Basra. And that this problem needs to be a serious pause from everyone to reduce the pollution and violations of water quotas of this honorable province. On the other hand, the head of the department said in a speech and lecture on the occasion under the title of design and construction of mobile plants for water treatment in Basra: The use of nanotechnology is an advanced technology in the field of water treatment, consequently the project aims to build ten mobile units working with nanotechnology and used in remote areas and villages for the purpose of providing drinking water of high quality and in accordance with international standards. The symposium included three scientific lectures, which are delivered by Prof. Dr. Hassan Mahdi Al-Saffar, Deputy General Director, Ministry of Water Resources, National Center, and Prof. Dr. Saadi Kazim Abdul-Hussein, Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Environment and Water, and Assist Prof. Dr. Ibtisam Rahim Kareem Director of Water Desalination Unit / Civil Engineering Department. At the end of the symposium, certificates of appreciation were awarded by the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department to the lecturers, the supervising committee, the preparatory committee and the media and protocols committee.
