Lecture within the scientific and cultural activities of the first semester of the Department of Chemical Engineering for the academic year 2019-2020.

Within the scientific and cultural activities of the first semester for the Department of Chemical Engineering, the Lect. Dr.  Layth Salem was given a lecture related to his research under the title: Characterization of the multiphase flow system by using advanced non-invasive gamma-ray techniques, The presentation was provided inside Al-Khwarizmi Hall on Thursday 7-11-2019 in the presence of the head of chemical engineering department; Asst. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar., and Asst. Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdul Jabbar; scientific deputy of the head of department, and Lect. Dr. Wallaa Abdel Hady; administrative deputy of the head of department, as well as the heads of the branches with a number of staff from the department in addition to the postgraduate students. The lecturer said that the results of this research are led to the fact that multiphase flow reactors regarding hydrodynamics parameters (flow dynamics) have an extreme impact on the reactor's performance and therefore their productivity.  Thus we need extensively doing research on this kind of parameters by doing disgusting in non-invasive manner gamma-ray technique, for example, Radioactive particle (RPT), Gamma-ray densitometry (GRD) and computed tomography (CT) techniques. These kinds of valuable techniques give deep and crucial information that helps us to improve the design and thus the yield of the reactors such bubble column, slurry bubble column with and without dense internals, fluidized bed, spouted bed, Photobioreactors (including culturing system such as algae as part on renewable energy).
